Annual events in the life of Ledgewood Baptist

January

Annual business meeting is held the third Wednesday at 7:30 in the Education Building.

February

Valentine's Dinner at the church, hosted by Lilliam Vega and others.  (not every year)

March

An all-night prayer vigil is done before Easter. Individuals come to the church and pray for half an hour, with 24 people taking us through the night. We also have a vigil in the autumn.

Easter events (may be in April). Maundy Thursday Communion service, Community Good Friday service with the Succasunna Methodists and Presbyterians, Sunrise service at Ledgewood Pond, Easter breakfast and packed worship services.

April

Women's Sunday, where women lead the worship and give testimonies.

May

5-W's fancy Tea Party for all the women in the area.

Spring Rally Cookout at Camp Lebanon, NJ, with other churches in our Baptist group, the Watchung Association.

Mother's Day services.

June

Children's Day, a special service conducted by the children on the second Sunday of June (and there is only one service, at 10:30 a.m.)

A fellowship picnic behind the church.

"Creation" music festival in Pennsylvania for our youth group at the end of the month.

July

Vacation Bible School, the third week in July. VBS begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon. We begin composing our own unique program in January so it is always a special experience for the children of the area.

August

Gala Day - Peach Festival with food and games for everyone.

September

Labor Day Kickoff Sunday, when children move up to the next grade and the church gathers for a picnic.

Annual planning session where we add even more stuff to our calendar.

October

Laymen Sunday, when men of the church give testimonies.

Fall Harvest party in the church, and hayride on Salmon lane.

November

Senior Citizen's Thanksgiving dinner, where we serve a full meal to senior citizens in our area. The young children provide entertainment.

Community Thanksgiving service at a local house of worship.

December

"Hanging of the Greens" Christmas party with a potluck dinner and singing of carols while we decorate the Christmas tree.

Christmas cantata (alternates with an Easter cantata) or Christmas Program.

Caroling and open house at the parsonage.

Christmas Eve Candle-lighting service, 7:00, the highlight of the year for many families.
